Luff: 442 cm Boom: 171-173 cm Battens: 5 Cams: 0 Weight: 7.25 lb. Rec. Mast: Reflex Wave 430/21 Supplied Mast: Quick Tip Reflex Wave 430/21 Price: $537.00Low-End Power-Oriented Sailor: This is the meat and potatoes of the Gaastra line. It's designed as a big-boys' guts and glory sail. Its draft is deep and set slightly aft along the cord, and it excels at popping onto a plane and through the light spots. The grind can be put through the paces, regardless if it's big surf, a tough parking lot or constantly getting pitched.High-End Control-Oriented Sailor: Heavyweights and powerful sailors will gain the most from the Grind. Lightweights may find it back-handed or drafty in solid breeze or getting to weather. Adding outhaul, though, will minimize an overpowered feel.Onshore Sailor: It planes early and has ample punch, but lighter riders will feel backhand pressure or the leading edge collapsing when overpowered. Heavyweights will appreciate the added power and durability. On a wave, it's still maneuverable and capable of radical tricks and transitions.Down-The-Line Sailor: The Grind is built to last and be put through the rigors of big surf. It has a Dacron luff to help control draft through maneuvers, grid reinforcement around the perimeter and inner luff and a high-aspect plan form for radical maneuverability.Comment: The Grind is a durable and powerful wave sail for the heavyweights and more powerful sailors. Lighter riders can use it as a durable light-wind sail, but may feel overpowered in the upper ranges. It comes with a built-in neoprene mast pad and key tension battens for a clean and efficient release.
