Sailing

The Vrana Lake Cup is held traditionally every year in June and gathers young contestants of the Optimist class. The cup is organized with the help of YC Biograd. All primary school children who are not experienced in sailing are welcome to participate in the Pygmy Cormorant Race (cycling and running), which is held on the other side of the lake. It is not widely known that beside sailing, the Vrana Lake also offers the possibility for windsurfing.
Beginners are offered the opportunity to conquer their boards for the first time on the still surface of the lake, away from the crowded sea beaches. The experienced surfers can even surf when the north-eastern wind bora is blowing (not too heavily, naturally), which would be far more dangerous to do on the sea because this wind could blow you away to one of the neighbouring islands, whereas the lake offers the possibility of gently surfing and landing on the southern shore.
